The Botanical Garden is a unique place on the map of Moscow – it is an area in which collections of live plants from different parts of the world and different climatic zones are cultivated, studied and demonstrated in research, education and training purposes.
The Botanical Garden is a rather large green area in the north-east of Moscow, located in the Ostankino forest area. It is the largest botanical garden in Europe – 25 ha. Most of the Botanical Garden is a “living forest.”
In 2015, the Botanical Garden is 80 years old (there are trees older than 350 years old).
In the garden itself, there are 8820 species in a live collection.
The Botanical Garden is also a unique place for sports (jogging outdoors, skiing, etc.)
