LIFE-Botanic Garden: live in an area with a history

For many, Sviblovo, the area where LIFE-Botanic Garden is being built, is synonymous with comfort, urban tranquility and ecological well-being. But this place is also known for its rich history, which goes back to the distant past.

For the first time the mention of this area appears in 1432 in the Testaments of the Grand Duke Vasily I Dmitrievich. The village received its name after Dmitry Donskoy’s first commander, the direct ancestor of Maria Nagoy, Fyodor Andreevich Svibla. It is interesting that for a long time the Moscow Kremlin’s water tower, located near the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, was named Sviblova in honor of the famous boyar.

For several centuries the village had had several owners, among whom were the nephew of Catherine II’s favorite Cyril Naryshkin, the Pleshcheev family, Golitsyns, Kazeevs, Kozhevnikovs. In the past time an estate complex, a malt factory, a stone Trinity Church with a bell tower, a park with walking alleys, a descent to the Yauza river were built here and Sviblovskie ponds were dug.

Since the XVIII century due to its picturesqueness and proximity to Moscow Sviblovo becomes a fashionable summer residence. For two years the historian and writer Nikolai Karamzin rented summer accommodation here, in one of the letters he noted that “he occupied a beautiful rural house in a beautiful place near Moscow.” The childhood of the famous Russian composer Alexander Scriabin is connected with Sviblovo. It is possible that the estate was visited by the poet Alexander Pushkin.

The residential quarter LIFE-Botanic Gardens is only a 10 minutes walk away from the manor, and the residents can literally feel the spirit of the times and get to know the historical memory of these places. The upper floors of the complex offer an amazing view of the preserved buildings of the main house, the Trinity Church, ponds and a grove. Next to the residential quarter Pioneer Group will improve the embankment of the Yauza River, which will become a harmonious continuation of the historic complex – a pleasant zone for resting and taking walks.
